Welcome to The Pines at North Park
The History of The Pines at North Park, Formerly Denham Springs Country Club:
The Pines at North Park has a rich history with its founder, Art Hannaman Jr., breaking land on one of Denham Springs most valuable treasures in the mid 1950s. Before any golf was played however, Hannaman and partners had to transform palmetto swamp! By creating the pond for drainage and using the dirt to create the course, Denham Springs Country Club was born. In the 1960s, the country club began to thrive with 250 members, plus a waiting list! What many people did not know was Hannaman was bootlegging beer for Denham Springs Country Club. The ward was dry at the time, but Hannaman used his connections with the sheriff to ensure his members were well taken care of. Over the years, the club experienced amazing turning points, including the Catfish Tournament that was a staple of the course for over 37 years. More recently, PARDS has taken ownership of the club and has begun updating the course and renovating the facilities. Regardless of the name, Denham Springs Country Club or The Pines at North Park, the course is engulfed with rich memories of its past and current members. It is certain Art Hannaman’s dream of opening a golf course in Denham Springs was fulfilled, and his legacy will live on forever.
